(9) Picture Paradise...

Picture Paradise? Hmmm not quite. Indeed there were images there that were great, but did they really need to be shown all at the one time? 100 years of photography in the Asia Pacific region plus some random mainland shots from Canada is a bit of a stretch to have them shown well at the one show. Another case of the NGA having too much breadth and not enough depth perhaps. I especially like the photo Gendow (Kitchen Hand) by G.R. Lambert and Co. Don’t ask me why either the NGA hasn’t uploaded the photo on the net yet so I can’t see what it looked like again. The level of detail and sharpness in some of the 100+ year old photos astounded me. Makes we wonder just how far we have come in photography and the tools we use today... and the answer if you asked the same photographers if they were alive today would probably say not much.
